Letting God Fill Every Room of Your House: Part Two

Before starting, if you haven’t read my previous blog, I recommend you go back and have a read, as it is the first part to this (i’ve linked it below).

Before we pick up from where we left off, I just really wanted to emphasise the importance of us allowing Him to fill every room of our lives in this present day and age.

He really is coming back guys, and it’s more than just getting ourselves ready in these times… are those around us ready? Are we being used as witnesses for Christ? And the answer to these questions go hand in hand with whether we are allowing Him to fill our lives. Because the more we make room for Him and allow Him to fill us with His Holy Spirit, the more He can and will use us to impact the Kingdom of God. Because I’m not sure about You but I want to be a part of this last day revival that is spoken about in the Bible…

“And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.
And also on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth:
Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved.”
- Joel 2:28-32a

I don’t want to miss out because I was preoccupied and didn’t allow Him to have full access to my life…

…anyway, back to the rooms, as I mentioned before if you haven’t read the first one please do read that one first so you get the gist of what I’m talking about :)

BATHROOM:

The bathroom represents the way that we view ourselves, self-esteem, vanity etc…

I think that it’s common today that a lot of our perceptions of ourselves can be so inaccurate, and often times a distraction! I think our generation spends so much time dwelling on ourselves and the way we feel that we miss out on the bigger picture and what really matters.

I recently went to my church’s Bible Conference in Tucson, and one of the sermons that stood out to me the most was on the narratives of our mind (linked below). What do you believe about yourself? What words do you speak over yourself? I’d say this is key because a lot of the times the way we view ourselves will spill out in the way that we treat other people.

The Bible says in Genesis 1:27, “God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created them…”. And so, this tells me in order to know who I am and be secure in who I am, I must know Him. So instead of trying to find out who you are through inaccurate sources we must turn to Him because the only way we will be able to view and esteem ourselves right is when we know Him and begin to know and walk as His sons and daughters.

And through that we are able to treat others well, because then we’re not consumed with ourselves… thinking of ourselves too high or too low. Don’t let the enemy lie to you about yourself, a good way to combat this practically is by literally taking your mind off yourself and placing it on Him… stop meditating on yourself and go listen to some worship 

OFFICE:

Last one is the office space, which represents our work ethic…

Now this one’s a little different, but I do strongly believe that as Christian’s we should give our best to all that we put our hands to. That goes for work, university, school… everything. When we look at the work of Jesus and even some others mentioned in the Bible like the woman in Proverbs 31, they did not do things half-heartedly… Does God have access to how we handle the things that He has put in our possession?

The Bible says in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”.

And I think that this is important because the way that we do things will be a testimony to unsaved people around us. And not only our work ethic, but also when we are in these environments at work uni etc, do those around us know who we serve? Would God be able to use us as a vessel to bring those in our workplaces or places of education to Christ, or wouldn’t He be able to because we conform to whatever their doing?

So going back to the quote that I started with, “Jesus may have a room in your house, but He wants the whole house.”. Throughout these past two blogs we have spoken about the different rooms of our lives that we need to allow God to fill so that He can use us. Because going back to what I mentioned at the start of this blog, the times that we are living in are very real – Jesus is coming back. And we have to ask ourselves what type of Christian do we want to be? The church seat warmer type, or the book of Acts Holy Spirit filled type? It’s our choice, and it all begins with allowing Him to have full access to our lives :)

If you got this far, thanks for reading! This one was a little shorter as it is a continuation from the last one, but I hope it has still blessed You.

Stay tuned for the next one!

“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;  that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” - Colossians 1:9-10
